Experience in Moscow, Russian Federation by Алиса

What is it like to live in Moscow? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The city is great. In all meanings. It's really huge and sometimes the fastest way from one side of the city to the other takes almost two hours. However, the city is very beautiful with a lot of things to do and to see.

What is the student lifestyle like in Moscow?

In different universities it may vary but most of the time you study from 9AM to 16PM (it may take all day and it may be just one lecture so it depends completely on your timetable) and then you are free to do whatever you want.

How much does it cost to live in Moscow?

It can be quite expensive for some but if you want to you can make it cheap. Actually, it all depends on your needs and wishes as if you want to live in a hotel and eat ordinary food it's okay, but if you want to rent an apartment and eat in restaurants everyday you can spend a looooot of money.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Moscow? Is there any advice you can give?

I've lived here all my life so I'm no expert but there are many services to find flats, hostels, etc., so I think no. It's not too difficult all you need is money.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is amazing. There are large supermarkets and small farmer's shops so you can choose whatever you want.

What places would you recommend visiting in Moscow?

Red square is the first thing to come in mind.

And as many parks as possible - there are a lot of them here and all of them are amazing!

Is it good to eat out in Moscow? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Definitely. A lot of good places. My favorites are Starbucks (obviously), "Shocoladnitsa", "Voronezh", "Pushkin", etc., the list is endless. You just open https://kudago.com/, click on restaurants and choose where you want to eat today.

Is the nightlife good in Moscow? Where is good to go?

Amazing as well. A lot of night clubs like "Gypsy", "Soho", "Icon" and "Izvestia", etc. but you can always find some cheaper places.

What advice would you give future students heading to Moscow?

Explore the metro map before going down, the scheme is pretty easy to understand but still people get lost sometimes. And it considered not only subway - it's always better to know where you are right now and where are you going because as I said earlier the city is really huge. Good luck and enjoy our city!
