What is it like to live in Montreal? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Montreal is an awesome city. I would definitly recommend it. There is always something to do in Montreal. You can not get bored.

What is the student lifestyle like in Montreal?

There are many universities, so there are different vibes. But each university has their own lifestyle, and it's really nice. People in Montreal are extremely sociable and nice. The lifestyle is very friendly and lot of partying.

How much does it cost to live in Montreal?

It depends on what you do. It's cheaper than a lot of Europes countries.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Montreal? Is there any advice you can give?

Not at all. There are lots of apartments to rent. But I have to say, the price can vary. You will not find something nice under 550$ CAD/months.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is delicious! What's nice about Montreal is that we are really open to other origins and other cultures. So we have numerous Chinese, French, Indian, Japanese (etc. ) restaurants. If you come to Montreal, you have to (of course) try the poutine. You can go to La Banquise, which is a restaurant that specialized in poutine. It's delicious.

What places would you recommend visiting in Montreal?

  • Le Musée des Beaux-Arts
  • Le Vieux-Montréal
  • Marcher sur le Plateau Mont-Royal

Is it good to eat out in Montreal? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Again, it depends on your budget. There are restaurants like Cinco or L'Entrepôt that cost 5$ the meal, and it's really good. So for cheap budget, that's a must.

Is the nightlife good in Montreal? Where is good to go?

We have a pretty good reputation for our nightlife. The bars and clubs are really nice.

My recommendations:

  • Apt200
  • Mme Lee
  • Mayfaire
  • La Taverne Normand
  • Fitzroy

What advice would you give future students heading to Montreal?

Be open minded! People in Montreal are extremely friendly, so smile to people on the street and say Hi and Thank you when you go in a shop or whatever. Walk in the street, discover the city by yourself. Go drink some beers or cheap wine in the Mont-Royal park. Go to Piknik Electronik during summer (on sundays). Well, enjoy our city!
