What is it like to live in Montreal? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Montreal is a wonderful and vibrant city. There is something for everyone here. I would recommend to come during the spring, summer or fall time since that is when the weather is most pleasing. Also, in the summer Montreal is host to a number of festivals that are so diverse from one another and always good fun.

What is the student lifestyle like in Montreal?

Students in Montreal are really good at combining studies and free time. A lot of people like to have a good time but learn the importance of academics as well.

How much does it cost to live in Montreal?

I would say 1500$ CAD/month should be more than okay. It all depends on a person's lifestyle. But for the necessities (rent, grocery, etc) I would say 1500$CAD/months is more than enough.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Montreal? Is there any advice you can give?

The best advice I could give is to try and find an apartment or a place to stay as soon as you can. I know a friend of mine that came from France who found an apartment on Kijiji.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

It's always very easy to find something to eat in Montreal. 24/7 you can go out and find a restaurant or a café open to serve either a sit-down meal or something quick to eat. There are so many different types or restaurants for every taste.

What places would you recommend visiting in Montreal?

Depending on when you come there is always something to do. You can like the Facebook page MTL Blog which will give you the time, date and place of many activities. A lot of Montrealers use that Facebook page. I personally would recommend to go to the festival in the summer time. But there is also many fun activities in the winter as well, as long as you wrap up warm you should have a great time.

Is it good to eat out in Montreal? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Most students eat out in Montreal, there are many places that are good and inexpensive. But there is also more expensive restaurants or fast-food that are very good as well.

Is the nightlife good in Montreal? Where is good to go?

Oh yes! There are so many clubs and parties that can be found on almost every street in Downtown Montreal as well as on the outskirt of the city. Depending on your personal taste I would recommend to ask people where can the best places be found. It always help to have an opinion on the matter since there are so many.

What advice would you give future students headed to Montreal?

Bring a good winter coat if you come in the winter (I would recommend to buy it in Canada that way you'll be sure it'll keep you warm) and good warm boots, gloves and a hat, you'll need it. If you come in the summer, summer clothes will be just fine. As for the spring and fall bring a jacket even though the weather is very comfortable during that time. I would also recommend to watch at least one hockey game with true Montrealers it's always good fun. Montreal is an amazing city to explore I would recommend it to everyone.
