What is it like to live in Modena? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a medium size city in the middle of the Po Valley. It has a nice historical center with a beautiful cathedral and some interesting buildings (the Roman museum in the Palace of Museums, the Photography Museum, the Ghirlandina tower) and many quiet neighbourhoods outside the center. Generally speaking, it's a liveable place with good services and a safe environment.

Is it good to eat out in Modena? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Modena and its region have the BEST food one can imagine. Some of the best restaurants offering the best value for money include Ermes, Il Giusto Gusto (sandwiches), Trattoria Aldina, 212 and I Picari (for aperitivo = a drink served with a large buffet of snacks, pizza, sandwiches and salads).

Is the nightlife good in Modena? Where is good to go?

There's not much going on in the center during workdays. The nightlife is most lively during weekends when students and young people gather in some areas (Piazza Pomposa, Via Taglio) for a drink and a bite. Most clubs and big pubs are in the suburbs and in the villages outside the city.
