Where to eat in Milan

Where to eat in Milan? ” This is a very common question, yet not so easy to answer to. I’ll give you here some of the places where I like to go to, but there are so many others across the city!

Whatever you are craving, I believe that you will be able to find it in Milan. Of course, it’s probably going to be easier if you are craving Italian food, but as Milan is a very multicultural city there are also many restaurants that offer food from all around the world.

For breakfast

If you are looking for a place in which you can have breakfast, you could go and try one of the Panini Durini coffees. Panini Durini is a chain which is really appreciated by students. They offer a wide range of coffee (really, they have anything you could want), some tea (for people like me that do not drink so much coffee) as well as different sorts of food, either sweet or salty. You can find the menu by clicking here. The prices are not so high and the food and coffee are really good. I actually found some coffee that I like in this place so really, you will find something for you. I also like the atmosphere of the coffee, with nice decorations, good music, and smiling and nice employees. I would personally recommend trying their croissant with cream inside, it’s delicious.

I suggest going there in the morning as their coffees close to the center and of universities can get really crowded with students in the afternoon.

For lunch

At this time of the day, and considering that you are in Italy, you might want to eat a good pizza. For this I would recommend the restaurant Fresco&Cimmino. It is also a chain and they serve reeeaally really good pizzas. Their restaurant is located in the center, behind the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. It’s a very big one, it has two floors and it usually gets full at lunch time because many workers come there during their lunch break. For that reason, I would advise you to go there either around the opening time (12 pm) or then around 1. 30 pm to not have to wait in line at the entrance. The restaurant has a great design, and the prices are really not so expensive, even though you could expect them to be because of their location. Most of the people there eat a pizza when they go there, but they also have other sorts of food available on their menu.

Here is their website if you want to check it out!

For a snack

If you want to have a little snack in the afternoon, you can’t not try a gelato. Ice cream is very popular in Italy and there is a reason to that: it’s really good.

You can find gelateria all across the city. Whether you want to have your ice cream in a cone or not, whatever flavor you are looking for, you will find it. As they are popular here, ice creams are not so expensive: I would say between €2 and €5, but it might be more depending on the size of you ice cream or if you add any extra.

For dinner

To get the full experience of Milan, you have to go to an aperitivo for dinner. I have already talked about the concept, but for those who haven’t read my previous posts I’ll explain again quickly: in almost every bar in the city, usually from 6pm to 9 or 10pm, you can order a drink at a unique price and thanks to that you can also have access to a buffet.

The most popular neighborhood for aperitivo is Navigli. There you will find dozens of bars in which you can have an aperitivo, just choose the one you prefer! Prices go from €7 to €12 I think, you can ask for the price before you enter a bar.

To name an example of a place in which you can enjoy a nice aperitivo, you should try the Maya bar. It’s in the Navigli area and for just €11 you get a great drink and great food. They even have a chocolate fountain!

Another good bar to recommend for an aperitivo is the Spritz. It is the same price as Maya for an aperitivo, and this one is located closer to the main canal of Navigli, so you don't have to walk a certain time to get there and you have a pretty nice view.

These two bars are my personal favourites to have an aperitivo.

These are examples of spots where you can have different varieties of food, and not spend too much money on it. But there are so many other places all across the city, they can offer types of food and for a different price range. It all depends on what you are looking for!
