Shopping in Milan

Milan is known in the whole world for fashion, and there is a reason for that. It’s one of the four cities in which the Fashion Week takes place every year (along with New York, Paris and London). If you are looking for places to shop in Milan, you will not be disappointed: there are so many different areas where you can go shopping with different atmospheres and shops. You will find one that you love for sure!

Corso Vittorio Emanuele

Located behind the Duomo, this large street is one of the main shopping streets in Milan and it has many shops, including some of the most popular brands. This street offers mostly shops for clothing, but you will also find make-up stores and the Disney store. It gets very, very crowded on weekends or when there are sales.

Via Torino

This street, also located not far from Piazza del Duomo, is also very popular. Once again there are many clothing stores, but you will also find more restaurants and gelateria than in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, thanks to which you can enjoy an ice cream while walking in the city. This street also gets really busy at some time of the day.

City Life Shopping District

This is a brand new shopping district: it opened last November. It is located in the CityLife Park, which is also a quite new neighborhood. In this shopping center, a whole floor is dedicated to food: there are dozens of restaurants in which you can enjoy Italian food. The other floor is dedicated to clothing and lifestyle shops, and there is also a supermarket. Since this shopping center is a little more out of the city (you can still go there with the metro, line 5, the purple one) and it is quite new, it does not get too busy so you can take your time walking around there and looking at the store fronts. Also, after you've been shopping, you can enjoy a walk in the park and look at the amazing architecture of the buildings around it.

Via Monte Napoleone

This street is really well-known. You will find only luxurious brands there. Many people like to walk in this street to “just be there” and look at the store fronts. If you can afford it, this street probably has all the luxury brands you can think of! No need to go around the whole city looking for them, they are all here. Otherwise, it’s also nice walking there and looking at the architecture of the buildings, and dreaming by looking at the store windows.

Piazza Gae Aulenti

Another one of the main shopping places in Milan is the Piazza Gae Aulenti. It is located near the Garibaldi train station, in a quite modern neighborhood. You will see huge towers with glass windows, which are actually offices. The stores there are quite big, like the Nike or Sephora stores. The underground floor is here again dedicated to food, with restaurants and a supermarket.

Going from Piazza Gae Aulenti to Corso Como, you will find more shops, like a Louboutin shop or the Chiara Ferragni Collection store, which is her only physical store for now.

I personally really like this place because of the architecture and because it is not so crowded.

These are the main shopping areas in Milan, but there are some more popular shopping streets, like Corso Vercelli, Corso Venezia or Corso Como. These streets are usually less busy with people than the main shopping districts, and you can find some big brands as well along with smaller shops.
