Milan is one of those cities that everyone has seen before they visit, so imagine the excitement I had when I actually had to live here and call this place my home. I came to Milan to study my Masters in Luxury in Interior Design and was in love with the place. The architecture, the food and entertainment. To be honest I was looking for an opportunity to travel but I needed to do it with a purpose, my solution was study abroad, see the world and gets my master while on that and so I decided to come to Italy.

Cultural Experience

The whole experience was much more than I had bargained for, not only were the cultural eye opening but I had the opportunity to live with the native Italians. I arrived in Milan on a Sunday which is terrible because to get around was really hard because it took me awhile to get someone to help me with directions to my hotel. The good thing about Milan is that the transport system is really reliable and there are maps in each metro station. The thing about Milan is most people know English so moving around is easy or you could just use Google Translate to get by but I would actually advice one to learn Italian that would be way easier.

Cost of Living

The cost of living in Milan is expensive since it’s a metropolitan city but I found I could enjoy Milan without using lots of money. Most of the museums in Milan are free on Tuesdays in the afternoon, and then we have the aperitivos which I would go to the ones that serve a whole course food and a cocktail and that will cost like 10 euros, also dining where locals eat is way cheaper. I joined a fitness group that is free and they would provide us with the yoga mats and really give us good instructions and will meet three times a week.

Life Long Friendships

Studying in Milan made me to meet incredibly people that became very good friends. We shared so much, by studying with them, partying and sharing the entire experience with them regardless of our differences.
