Why did you choose to go to Milan, Italia?

Because I like the Italian culture and it is quite different from what I am used to back home so I thought I might learn a thing or two. Also Milan is a good city for experiencing Italy. You can have a lot of fun here every day of the week if you want.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

4 months. Around 2500 euros in total paid 80% in advance and the rest after you finish.

What is the student lifestyle like in Milan?

There are not as many assignments to hand in during the semester as I am used to. The courses I am attending all only have 2 "big" assignments during the semester and then a final exam. I like this system as it is less work during the semester. The Italians students I have met are friendly and open but I spend more time with other Erasmus students because they tend to be interested in the same things as me at this moment.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Milan to other students?

The city is great and I highly recommend it as for the University (Politecnico) they teach in quite a theoretical way for me.

What is the food like?

The food is a lot of bread, pizza and pasta. Which I like most of the time but can become annoying if you are in the mood for something else. I like the aperitivo tradition.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Milan?

I used Dovevivo which I highly recommend to find accommodation.

How much does it cost to live in Milan?

Depending on where you live a single bedroom in Milano in a shared apartment is around 400-600 euros per month. Cost of living will depend heavily on your lifestyle as always.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Politecnico offers a two weeks language course before the semester which I highly recommend to attend. Not only to learn Italian but also because you will meet a lot of people there which is nice when you are in a new city. They also offer a language course during the semester but I did not sign up for that one.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Milan from your city?

Search for a flight on Dohop.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Milan?

There are different areas in Milano that offer different experiences. You will have to figure out by yourself what you prefer.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Milan?

Good aperitivos all around the city are great for students to enjoy eating out.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Milano like most Italian cities is full of nice places and buildings to visit. Google will answer this question better than I ever will.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Milan in the future?

Just go for it!
