Why did you choose to go to Milan, Italy?

I chose Milan because it is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Italy and in Europe so it gave me a great opportunity to develop contacts with other cultures and the universities are very well recognized across Europe.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I only stayed in Milan for one semester. I received 300€ monthly.

What is the student lifestyle like in Milan?

It's very good: the university of Milan is very well prepared to receive all the Erasmus students, they have good residences if we choose to stay there and they provide us italian lessons which gives us a chance to know other Erasmus students. Milan has a GREAT nightlife!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Milan to other students?

Definitely yes! Milan is trully an Erasmus city.

What is the food like?

Mainly pastas but you have very good vegetables, fruits and also meat and fish (a little bit expensive).

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Milan?

No, I stayed in a residence. I think it's the best option.

How much does it cost to live in Milan?

1000€ monthly: food, residence, nightlife, shopping and travelling.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Italian was very easy for me to learn because I'm portuguese but I think people will understand the italian language because in Milan you only speak italian, forget the english. Only with the other Erasmus students you can speak English but I reccomend you to speak only in Italian. The university of Milan provide us free italian lessons.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Milan from your city?

By airplane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Milan?

Wednesday: Old fashion Thrusday: Le banque Friday: Alcatraz Saturdays: The club

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Milan?

Restaurants near Navigli and Duomo are very good! They're a good choice to go with the family and some friends.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Duomo, castello sforzesco, stazione centrale, galleria vitor emmanuel, san siro, via montenapoleone.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Milan in the future?

Milan is a safe city, don't worry about thefts. Learn the basic italian, people in Milan aren't very kind, prepare for the cold weather and have fun!
