Why did you choose to go to Milan in Italy?

Because Milan is a large Italian city, that mixes old and new. The architecture is sublime and the local culture is enriching.

Being passionate about Italy, I considered Milan as a perfect place to do my course.

How long was your stay? What was the total support you received?

My stay was for two months.

I received 963 euros in total.

How is the student atmosphere in Milan?

Milan is overflowing with students from all over. The atmosphere is festive and cosmopolitan. Very pleasant on summer evenings.

Would you recommend Milan and it's university to other students?

Yes, I strongly recommend it!

What is the food like in this country?

The food there is excellent - it is directly based on the local Lombard and Italian culture. Obviously you can taste the succulent pizzas, but also local specialties such as "panzerroti" (little turnovers of mozzarella and ham, fried in oil), a real treat! You mustn't worry about your figure!

Did you have any difficulty finding accommodation in Milan?

No, Milan being a really big city, there is plenty of accommodation available in the town and it's suburbs and rooms to rent in people's homes.

What is the cost of living in Milan?

The cost of living in Milan is roughly equal to Paris, affordable if you don't aim too high.

What is the language like to learn? Did you taken any language lessons organised by the university?

The Italian language is rich and phonetically complicated, but it is relatively similar to French so not too difficult to understand or to make yourself understood if you have the basics.

I didn't follow any language courses at the university.

What is the cheapest method of getting to Milan from your town?

The shortest and definitley the cheapest is always by plane. It takes 1 hour and costs less than 70 euros.

What places would you recommend for partying in Milan?

The Navigli, plenty of bars, nightclubs and restaurants.

The Corso Como, a very big pedestrianised street, is a good place to be.

And to eat in Milan? Which are your favourite places?

Same as for partying, Navigli, Corso Como the Montenapoleone district (a bit more classy), Corso Venezia.

And which cultural points of interest do you recommend?

Milan Cathedral, the Basicilica of Sant'Ambrogio, the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle II, the Santa Maria delle Grazie church with the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci.

Take the train from the Central Station and for less than 10 euros return, you can visit the towns of the Lombard estate, Como and the famous Lake Como, Bergame, Pavie, Turin (Piedmont), Lecco.

Do you have any advice for future students in Milan?

Have fun and make the most of it because it always goes far too quickly. Live every moment in the present and never think about tomorrow.
