Discovering beauty in Milan

I am a resident of India and having come from a very religious and cultural background, I gained a whole new perspective and saw myself grow over the period of five months! My life was a complete rollercoaster starting from language issues to my body getting adjusted to the cold weather. I resided in my uni's hostel where people were so kind and helpful. They helped me understand the transport system for starters and the main areas in Milan. I watched myself travel alone, fall in love with the new taste of food, learn a foreign language to be able to communicate, and addict myself to the very own ritual of Italians for an espresso coffee, which I still follow being back in my country. My decision of travelling to territories less known in Italy by tourists, such as Desenzano and Canzo Asso was the best choice I have ever made. A small message to the upcoming Erasmus students, please allow yourself to be free of all your mindsets and explore the city you are in and watch how every little experience that you get, you explore something new within yourself. It's the time to fall in love with a different culture and a different you. Do something you would have never imagined yourself to be doing and push yourself out of your cosy bed and blanket for every day counts and every day is a new learning. It's a world where you enter with doubts and leave with tears and a bunch of amazing friends that turn into your family within no time. I ended my Erasmus by travelling alone, staying with an old Italian couple and finding the love of my life!
