Generally, what is Middle East Technical University like?

You can feel the liberty in every corner of the university. People are so social and active. There are many facilities like swimming pools, tennis courts, cafes, shopping centers and so on. I mean, METU has everything that a student can want. However, education quality is so high and the education system is so different from the Hague University. Most of the classes are theoretical and exams are generally so hard. If you work hard and systematically, there is no reason to fail of course. At this university, a student never has to go to the city centrum because everything that is needed would be ready on the campus, even the hospital.

What are the facilities like?

Swimming pools, sports centers, tennis courts, a big stadium, cafes, restaurants, shopping centers, markets, banks, a hospital...

What are the tutors like?

They are so friendly and helpful, but this doesn't mean that they let us pass easily. However, it is sure that you can eat together, talk about everything, they want to help you in every issue. This is true for most of the teachers. They care for students.

Are the lessons easy in Middle East Technical University?

Absolutely not. Be ready to study.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

There are many student groups in the university. They arrange some activities from trekking in the mountains to concerts and frisbee matches. Every student group makes a meeting at every beginning of the semesters. Students can choose whatever they want.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

You can be sure METU will give very good education and shape your character and intellectual capacity.

Are there any stories you can share?

One of my friends had cancer and he didn't want to be treated anymore. I was so sad. One of my teachers realized that and talked with me, he gave some ideas to encourage him and I feel better thanks to my teacher. They are more than school teachers.

Another one. I had a maths exam, calculus. I didn't sleep, I was up all night to study more. I thought I was ready in the morning, but when I came to school and took the exam paper I felt my brain burned, I couldn't remember anything. I just looked at the paper even I solved those problems many times before. METU burned my brain many times.
