What is it like to live in Magdeburg? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is great. Food, accomodation and transportation are quiet cheap. You are well connected to bigger cities like Leipzig, Halle, Berlin, Potsdam and Hannover.
I highly recommend to explore the city by bike and we have also some parks were you can chill, enjoy the good wheather and meet friends.

What is the student lifestyle like in Magdeburg?

There are several places were you can party, e.g. 'Baracke' (on campus) or 'Festung' (near campus). There are also several events on campus during semester organied by diffrent student societies.

How much does it cost to live in Magdeburg?

Depends on were you want to live. There are dorm room available for 200-450€. but you can also rent a room in a flat share in the city with other students normaly costs about 300€. If you want to live in a flat. It can be more expensiv e.g. 2-room-Apartment for 500-700€ plus Internet flat and electrisity.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Magdeburg? Is there any advice you can give?

Usually not. A flat share is relatively easy to find. I recommend facbook groups, the blackboards on campus and also the website
www.wg-gesucht.de

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Depends on what you like to eat, but usually everything is delicious.

What places would you recommend visiting in Magdeburg?

The parks and the dome.

Is it good to eat out in Magdeburg? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are a lot restaurants in the city were you can eat out. From italian to chinese is nearly everything available

Is the nightlife good in Magdeburg? Where is good to go?

Good, but could be better. There are some parties for students in beginning, during and on the end of semester.

What advice would you give future students heading to Magdeburg?

Try to learn some basics in German especially for grocery shopping. In some shops the people are not that good in english as expected. It doesn't have to be fully grammatically correct. Just to figure out what you want. :)
