My Top 3 Favorite Things to Do in Luxembourg City

If you have been considering completing your mobility semester in Luxembourg, then you have come to the right place!

Luxembourg is known for its international and multilingual environment, so it may just be the destination for you. In fact, just about 52 % of the population is considered Luxembourgish by nationality! The rest of the population comes from countries all over the EU as well as from all over the world, like me!

Luxembourg is a very small and quaint country in the heart of Western Europe. Bordered by France, Germany, and Belgium, this country is the perfect place to go if you want to travel around to different European countries. While it may not be a big city like Barcelona or Prague, it definitely has a lot to offer. Here are some of my favorite things to do in my temporary home!

1. Visit the Chocolate House and the Grand Ducal Palace

The Chocolate House is an absolute must-do in Luxembourg. At this incredibly cozy restaurant situated in the city center and across the street from the beautiful Grand Ducal Palace, the Chocolate House offers the most delicious breakfasts and sweets. They are most well known for their 'choco-spoons', which are wooden spoons with a big chunk of solidifed chocolate at the end. Served with hot milk (dairy or plant-based) along with marshmallow and whipped cream, I can drink this heavenly nectar during any season! Though I will admit, it is especially comforting during the autumn and winter months.

2. Relax in Kinnekswiss Parc

About a 5 to 7 minute walk from the city center, exists a beautiful green space called the Kinnekswiss. During the warmer months of spring and summer, my absolute favorite thing to do is lay a sheet on the grass with some friends, drinks, and snacks to enjoy some fresh air. People often bring their instruments here to jam with friends, or bring a journal like myself to do some reflection amidst the nature. This picture is from my birthday celebration I had recently (friends not pictured... ) and I wouldn't have spent it any other way! It was also during the annual ING marathon, a special evening in early June where Luxembourg's residents cheer on those who decided to do such a thing to themselves! While they run, we cheer, drink, and party.

3. Karaoke in Oscar's Bar

In all honesty, I love to sing. Lucky for me, I quickly discovered Oscar's Bar located in the Grund, another interesting area to explore in Luxembourg for nightlife. Every Saturday, they host a karaoke night and I only leave with good memories whenever I attend! What I love about it is that they use wireless mics so you can sing from wherever you are seated with your friends. It starts at 10pm and fills up fast, so if you like to make the most out of karaoke like myself, I would suggest coming earlier in the evening to enjoy dinner and drinks with friends.

    Hey
Luxembourg is considered to be a developed nation. The developmental stage of a nation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, economic prosperity, life expectancy, income equality, and quality of life.
