Cool places to visit in London - Part 1: Camden Town

Hey! A little while back, I wrote about how to get to London and how not to lose a kidney in the process. In this post, I will talk to you about my experience about the places that I visited in London. Although I can imagine that I have missed a lot out, as I was only able to stay for two days, I think that here I have noted down at least the fundamental things that I saw in each neighbourhood or place that I visited.

Part 1 - Camden Town: the important things to bear in mind.

1. What to do in Camden?

Simply walking through the streets of Camden is something special. The shop walls are decorated as if they were works of art, and are normally related to what they sell. In addition to this, you can hope to find thousands of really cheap souvenir shops, as well as little stalls with a hippie vibe...

2. Shopping in Camden Town

If you are looking for gifts for your family members or friends, in Camden you can find anything and everything: from postcards of Big Ben to hand-decorated Converse trainers (they cost £40, but are really nice), necklaces, posters, mugs...

There are also very original shops like Cyberdog, for example, which sells robotic-type products. The shop assistants wear galaxy-style uniforms and the interior of the shop is decorated with neon, fluorescent lights. They have original (and expensive) gifts, like t-shirts with lights that change in accordance with the rhythm of the music, or coloured lamps made with balloons. I recommend going into the store to have a look around, I can assure that it will surprise you.

In Camden, I also found a café that specialises in different types of cereals. I was in a bit of a hurry, so I don't know exactly how it all works, but, from the outside, you can see that it has endless shelves with a thousand and one different cereal boxes on them. How do you find it, you may ask it? Easy: it's located just behind the statue of Amy Winehouse, which is obviously worth taking a photo of, even if it ends up being a bit of a "plandid". If you pay attention, you'll see that her wrist is full of bracelets that tourists put on it, although they are removed after a certain amount of time so that others can put on different ones.

3. Eating out in Camden

Camden is full of little food stands, with products ranging from pizza to crepes, as well as thousands of Chinese and Korean places. If you go to Camden Market, they usually give you free food samples so that you then buy your meal from their stall. Anyway, these are quite expensive for what they really are (a quite thin slice of pizza cost £2. 60). We preferred to go for a cheaper option and ate in McDonalds for literally £2. There were many other things that were more worth spending money on than food!
