Cafè & Te

Sometimes one may not feel like having a complete lunch based on typical product and local specialties, either beacuse they have not much time or because they just want to go on the cheap. In this cases, there is no better thing than having a good, cheap place to rely on, without freaking out in search for the right local. This was my condition during my recent trip to Lleida, and I must say that I was quite lucky to find the right place with little effort.

Located in the heart of the city, Cafè & Te looks out onto Plaça de Sant Joan, which despite its limited size can be doubtlessly considered the main square of Lleida. The local is perfect for a snack or a quick lunch, offering a wide variety of sandwiches and a good assortment of drinks at a very reasonable price. My choice was finally a delicious sandwich called Flauta de Olivas. It consisted in a classic pan amb tomaquet filled with jamòn serrano, but the peculiar variety of bread (it contained olives) and the good quality of the ham made it particularly tasty.

Boasting a nice inside setting and, which is not less important, a very clean restroom, the local is also quite cheap: indeed, I was charged only 3. 50 Euros for the sandwich and a drink. Of course, it was also possible to opt for more consistent snacks, which at any rate did not cost more than 3 Euros. In a word, a very good choice for a quick and cheap lunch in the middle of a visit to Lleida!

A volte può capitare di non sentirsi inclini ad avere un pasto completo basato su prodotti tipici e specialità locali, sia esso perché non si dispone di molto tempo o perché semplicemente si vuole risparmiare. In questi casi, non c'è niente di meglio di avere un posto buono ed economico su cui poter contare, senza dover impazzire alla ricerca del locale giusto. Proprio in queste condizioni mi sono trovato durante una recente gita a Lleida, e devo dire che sono stato abbastanza fortunato nel trovare il posto giusto senza dover faticare.

Situato nel cuore della città, Café & Te si affaccia su Plaça de Sant Joan, che a dispetto delle sue dimensioni limitate può essere considerata la piazza principale di Lleida. Il locale è perfetto per uno spuntino o un pasto frugale, dato che offre una ampia varietà di panini ed un buon assortimento di bevande ad un prezzo assai ragionevole. La mia scelta alla fine è caduta su un delizioso panino chiamato Flauta de Olivas, che consisteva in un classico pa amb tomaquet (pane con pomodoro) guarnito con jamòn serrano (prosciutto crudo). Erano la peculiare varietà di pane (contenente olive) e la buona qualità del prosciutto, tuttavia, a renderlo particolarmente gustoso.

Oltre a vantare un gradevole ambiente interno e, cosa non meno importante, un bagno assai pulito, il locale è, come detto, abbastanza economico: il panino ed unaa bibita, infatti, mi sono costati soltanto 3, 50 euro. Ovviamente è anche possibile optare per spuntini più consistenti, il cui prezzo si aggira comunque sui 5 euro. In poche parole, un'ottima scelta per un pranzo veloce ed economico nel bel mezzo di una visita a Lleida!
