What is it like to live in Limerick? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I am a student originally living in county Kerry (yes where Kerry gold and Kerry maid is made, butter) transport wise I am an 1hr 45 min car drive from Limerick and 2 hour bus journey. I have been a Student in the University of Limerick for the past 2 year going on 3 years and would highly recommend the University and City. The city and campus is a vibrant, intercultural origin with many international restaurants, shops, centers and people. my experience of living in a countryside too a big city has been a rollercoaster of fun social life, new friends and learning new things.

What is the student lifestyle like in Limerick?

Student life is amazing in Limerick, transport is easy, the city is mapped out very well and convenient for students who like too spend their days off shopping, eating out and learning new things in the area eg. The hunt museum, kayaking, history tours and festivals.

How much does it cost to live in Limerick?

On average on campus accommodation would range from 400-600 euro a month, off campus accommodation 250-400 (5-10 min walk from the university. Living in the city is costly and inconvenient for students.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Limerick? Is there any advice you can give?

"The early bird catches the worm", you need to be on top of things so prior booking for any type of accommodation is advised. there is an on campus service called campus life services who can help you out if stuck or just looking for accommodation.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

So many restaurants but highly recommend a place called LANA in castletroy (near the University) and FOUR SEASONS they offers pizza deals for 5 euro. lovely fancy restaurants in the city such as the COQBULL, AU CHOCOLAT, RIOS and many more.

What places would you recommend visiting in Limerick?

Hunt Museum, Park, Art galleries, Annacotty, Crescent shopping centre.

Is it good to eat out in Limerick? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

yes amazing, highly recommend LANA and COQBULL.

Is the nightlife good in Limerick? Where is good to go?

unbelievable and very safe. IKON, THE LIBRAY, ANGEL LANE, COSTELLO'S, MOLLYS, DOLANs.

What advice would you give future students heading to Limerick?

Come in with a open mind, new experience ready and pack for any sort of weather cause too be fair it Ireland and the weather is bipolar.

    Hello,

My name is Denisa and I will come in Limerick next university year. I'm a little bit scared that I will not find a good and cheap accommodation. I will not be alone, I'll come with a colleague.

I was wondering if you could give us some tips& tricks about accommodation :)
Also, if you can share with us the place where you stayed and the price per month. We will be very grateful to you.

Thanks and I will love to hear from you :)

    Hello Denisa,

Accommadation is always on demand and prices are always cheaper when its not "an on campus accommadation" Although they are all very nice to live in :). If you contact [email protected] they can send you off campus accomadationon a list from areas around campus "A-Z". prices off cmapus should range from 60euro p/w to 80 p/w.

I you enjoy your visit here, Im i'll you at "International Nights" or Orientation Week.:)
