What is it like to live in Limerick? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

From visiting other countries in the past, I believe that living in Limerick would be strange for other people. The people here are for the most part very friendly and helpful when needed, people are very easy going and don't really care what you do or say and are very lax when it comes to humour.

The architecture is fine, there are some beautiful things around e. g. a few castles and some nice views. I might just be too used to it to notice how nice it really is. The architecture around the city is mostly Georgian.

What is the student lifestyle like in Limerick?

Personally, I do not participate much in the student lifestyle as it is not really my thing, but many people love it. At the University of Limerick, there are two bars, most people go to Stables where there are many events like weekly International nights. Then students usually proceed to head into town and visit the many clubs, which are okay. There is also a lot of help available for students e. g. for health reasons or financial reasons.

How much does it cost to live in Limerick?

I am not sure about accommodation as I live at home, but food and household products are quite cheap here as there are many Lidls and Aldis around and other "Euro Stores".

Nights out may be expensive. From the city to the University of Limerick a taxi costs about 11 euro, and a bus is 2 euro. Entry to night clubs can cost between 5-12 euro, depending on the popularity of the night and the hour you arrive. Drinks are between 5 and 9 euro.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Limerick? Is there any advice you can give?

As far as I know, it is not difficult to find accommodation in Limerick, especially if you contact the university as soon as possible.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There are no dishes specific to Limerick but there is a lot of choice for food and you may even find your favorite dishes from home here, or at least the ingredients to make him.

What places would you recommend visiting in Limerick?

In the city, I would recommend visiting The Hunt Museum, the small art gallery by the park and King John's castle.

Is it good to eat out in Limerick? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

In the city, there are many restaurants and cafes to choose from. My favorites are a Lebanese restaurant called Mejana, and the vegan cafe Bubble Tea Paradise where there are breakfast and lunches.

The universities also offer good food at low prices.

Is the nightlife good in Limerick? Where is good to go?

The nightlife in Limerick is good for very outgoing people, but for people who are more reserved there are a couple of places like Costello's which has a kind of quiet, yet rock and roll atmosphere, or Dolan's, where there are lots of gigs on and you can just chill out.

What advice would you give future students heading to Limerick?

For future students, I would suggest joining the International Society and don't be afraid to ask people when you need help as residents of Limerick are generally very friendly and warm.
