Where are Lima's shopping centres? Here, I'll give you some options

Lima, the capital city of Peru now has almost 10 million inhabitants. I have seen this city that I love so much grow, and having seen how the malls or the well-known shopping centres have been built that exist nowadays in many parts of Lima, here I want to talk about some of the places where you can not only go shopping, but also meet up with friends, or go to the cinema. In my case, during my last visit to Lima, the majority of meet-ups that I had with my friends were at these places. Since they lived in North Lima, South Lima, East Lima, and the others worked in the city centre, these shopping centres ended up being a perfect meeting point.

Without further ado, these are 5 shopping centres that you can find in Lima:

Larcomar Shopping Centre (Miraflores District)

The list begins with one of the city's most popular shopping centres, not only for the things you can find there, but also for its prime location. If you come here, you will find it right on the Costa Verde within Salazar Park, which is one of the most visited places in the city nowadays. Also, you can find many cafes, bars and nightclubs there. That being said, bear in mind that the things you find here compared to those in other places are a little more expensive.

Jockey Placa Shopping Centre (Surco District)

Jockey Placa is one of Lima's busiest shopping centres, and here you can almost always find the big-name brands that come to Lima to open a store, and, occasionally, some famous people have come to cut the ribbons. For many years, this was the biggest shopping centre in Lima until it was overshadowed by the following option available to you.

Plaza Lima Norte Shopping Centre (Independence District)

For many, North Lima is the new focal point of economic development within the city, a place where maybe 70 years ago, nobody would have been able to predict the prosperity that this area was going to have. Nowadays, thanks to the development of its districts, you can find Lima's current largest shopping centre here! Not only are there shops, but it also has cinemas, food outlets and even a place for art exhibitions. For example, it was here where Wendy Ramos' exhibition was held when she showed her work, Cuerda.

Real Plaza Shopping Centre (The centre of Lima)

If you are in the centre of Lima or you want to stay with friends in the city centre, then this shopping centre is for you. The Real Plaza shopping centre is built on the tall building of the Civic Centre, a place where you can also find Plaza San Martín close by. Inside, you can also find nightclubs, like Centrica.

Plaza Lima Sur (Chorrillos District)

For people that are close to or live in the districts of South Lima, this is a good option. On the other hand, I must confess that as I am from North Lima, I have only been here once and truthfully, in comparison with Mega Plaza or Plaza Lima Norte, this seemed to be much smaller in my eyes, but anyhow, it's still a pretty good option.

Lima has many more shopping centres than the ones mentioned in this post! Which ones do you know? I hope that these places can help you when you come and get to know my city.

Many thanks for reading this post and I'll see you another time! Until next time, Lima lovers!
