Free Museums to visit in Lima 2019

Did you know that in Lima there are places that you can visit for free? YES, in the capital of Peru there are distractions and museums open all day that are free. In this article I want to tell you about the events and museums that you can also visit today if you wish. Each museum in our millennial Lima tells a different story and does so with a great feeling of what was experienced years ago.

If you are a Peruvian coming to know your story is almost an obligation, who does not know where it comes from will hardly know where it is going. Now if you are a tourist in Lima I am sure that these places will fascinate you since you will be able to feel what Peru was in the 1800-1900s, the experience you will live will be unique. Without further ado let's start with our tour.

1- Museum of the Holy Inquisition

This famous museum is located in Plaza Bolívar Cercado de Lima, It tells us the history of the punishments to which the "heretics", those persons who committed religious crimes, were subjected. In those times sins were punished even with death. The punishments were applied by ancient religious priests under strict orders of the Spanish crown, whose main mission was to convert the Indians to the religion of Catholicism.

It is undoubtedly a Lima museum that will catch you from start to finish, both for its history and the feeling you feel once inside the museum.

2- Central Reserve Bank museum (BCR)

This museum is little known and unfortunately it is not very crowded, but the few people who have come have left with that feeling of having learned something quite interesting. The main theme of this museum is to reveal the ancient coins that were used by the Peruvians of the colony. Inside are various artefacts, jewellery and coins from Pre-Columbian Lima.

3- Municipal Theater Museum

The Municipal Theater museum is located in the Center of Lima, by the Jiron Huancavelica. It is quite peculiar and deals with the evolution that art had from the time of the colony to these contemporary years. It is a very interesting place where you will learn many things about how the theatres used to be dance, clothing and everything related to the culture of Peru since the Incas.

4- Eiffel Mansion

The famous Eiffel Mansion is a mystery, it belonged to Ex President Manuel Prado between the years 1940-1960 and after his departure the place remained closed, for many years. It was never discovered because such a beautiful place remained completely closed, until it was decided to open it and its subsequent restoration. The Eiffel Mansion was repaired and inside there are now different pieces of art that were made by thousands of Peruvian painters and artists, endowing such a beautiful place with warmth and beauty.

5- The House of 13 doors

Ending our tour of the free museums in Lima, we find one of my favorites and one of the simplest in the Capital, I am referring to The House of 13 doors, this place has this peculiar name because the house has exactly 13 doors leading to the main street. It is not known exactly who belonged to such a peculiar home. It was restored by the municipality of Lima a few years ago, since then the place has been endowed with different art displays and paintings, a simple place but that has a history inside that is worth finding out.

We have finished our tour, I hope you have enjoyed as much as I have this article from the best museums to visit this 2019 in Lima. I know that I have probably missed some museums and perhaps I have not named them, but I always like to talk about what I have seen. I know that there are still unknown places in Lima, that's why I invite you to read my friend's Post in which he talks about the great things to do in Lima.

See you soon, I will update you with other museums with better photos, until next time.
