Lille, an awesome place to stay

What is it like to live in Lille? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

There is always something to do in Lille. The atmosphere is quite peaceful; the weather would be the only problem, but it's not that bad in spring and summer.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lille?

I think Lille is the best city for students. Everybody is nice to each other and ready to help you. A lot of events are made for students : parties, cultural events like concerts etc...

How much does it cost to live in Lille?

You can live in Lille with a small budget, and still eat well, go out with friends, drink a beer (beers are part of our culture here! )

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lille? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not that difficult if your requirements are not too stricts, even with a small budget. I would advice to choose shared apartments if you can!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is great! You can find little restaurants called "brasserie" or "estaminet" with traditional food : the best is the Welsh!

What places would you recommend visiting in Lille?

I would recommend the Vieux-Lille, it is the old part of the city, with beautiful architecture. Also the Palais des Beaux-Arts and the Piscine de Roubaix, which are greats museums.

Is it good to eat out in Lille? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are a lot of greats spots to eat out, especially in the Vieux-Lille, for example L'Arrière-Pays, or in Wazemmes like the Pol'Art.

Is the nightlife good in Lille? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is awesome and always animated by students parties. The best places are obviously the streets Solférino and Masséna.

What advice would you give future students heading to Lille?

Suscribe to Facebook groups to start, if you need any advice. Then, get close to students associations of your university. And finally, keep calm and take a beer!
