Erasmus Experience in Lille, France by Joshué
Why did you choose to go to Lille, France?
It is cheaper than Paris.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
Actually I'm not an erasmus student because I came from Peru.
But the CAF gave me like 170 euros for the studio and 90 euros for the shared room.
What is the student lifestyle like in Lille?
These people smoke all day and party days are on thursday.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Lille to other students?
Lille is really small so you can go walking everywhere.
I was at IESEG so I don't have an opinion about the university of Lille.
What is the food like?
I don't understand how people can call raclette a dish... but the poulet roti is the best.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lille?
Yes, it was really hard.
How much does it cost to live in Lille?
It depends where do you live, it can go from 250 to 700 euros I think.
I paid 415 for an studio, without electricity nor internet, and 340 for a shared room in a house with all included.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
French is kind of hard for me, but it's similar to Spanish.
At IESEG, yes.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lille from your city?
Swimming.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lille?
Latina cafe, but the DJ put the same songs all the days.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lille?
Ummm, the buffets, but you can go to Soho.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
I am not much into culture, so for me it looks like all Europe.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lille in the future?
Be prepared to get bored! And to spend 5 euros in average for a pint.
