What is the student lifestyle like in Liberec?

The Technical University of Liberec has a few buildings which are located in the center of the city. There is also a big library, where students can write their seminar works or borrow many kinds of books. The city offers a lot of kinds of entertainment such as sport halls, cinemas, shopping malls, zoo, botanical garden, museums, galeries, clubs, and others.

How much does it cost to live in Liberec?

Liberec is a city in Czech Republic so there is everything very cheap compare to other countries.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Liberec? Is there any advice you can give?

I don't think the accomodation is difficult but it is always better to arrange it in advance. If you don't find any private appartment, then you can ask your czech coordinator to help you. You can also live with other students in a dormitory, which is very nice and you meet a lot of young people.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Traditional Czech dishes usually contains meat, potatoes, dumplings, sauce and vegetables. If you would like to taste something, I would recommend to visit one of many czech restaurants or ask your czech friend to cook something together. My favourite dish is called "Svíčková omáčka".

What places would you recommend visiting in Liberec?

I would recommend to visit Ještěd because it is the symbol of our town. It is a modern building located on the highest top of Jizera mountains. You can see the whole town and also a small part of so called "Czech paradise".

Is it good to eat out in Liberec? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There is a lot of restaurants, pubs, cafeterias, pizzerias and fastfoods. My favourite places are restaurant Balada and Kavárna bez konceptu.

Is the nightlife good in Liberec? Where is good to go?

Most of the students often go to clubs located very closed to the dormitory. Clubs are usually open from 10pm till 5am but you can't see there almost anyone till 12pm.... Me and my friends always go first to a bar and then (around 12pm or 1am) to a club.

What advice would you give future students heading to Liberec?

Enjoy everything. It is always a great experience to visit a new country and culture.
