What is it like to live in Leoben? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Leoben is a rather small town with a population of about 28.000. The living costs are low and you don't need any money for public transports, because everything is in walking distance.

What is the student lifestyle like in Leoben?

There is a really good community under the students of the university. There are heaps of parties where you can meet lots of people.

How much does it cost to live in Leoben?

For accommodation I would calculate between 300 and 400€ per month. There are several student dormitories in Leoben. You can find a list of them on the university homepage www.unileoben.ac.at
You can also rent a room in a shared flat with other students. For information on this, just visit the homepage http://wohnen.oeh-leoben.at/

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Well the food is like everywhere in Styria: Lots of meat and bread. For those who can't live without Pizza: There are about 7 Pizza restaurants in Leoben, and most of them also have delivery service.

What places would you recommend visiting in Leoben?

Well, apart from our university...
You can visit:
The museum centre in Leoben: it shows the history of Leoben
The Kunsthalle Leoben: In the summer there are different exhibitions
The Asia Spa: That is a swimming pool with a water slide, but you can also go to the sauna there
Bier Brauerei Göss: That is the beer brewery next to Leoben with a very interesting museum. But be careful: They only open the museum for guided tours where you have to register a group of at least 8 people...

Is the nightlife good in Leoben? Where is good to go?

The nightlife for such a small town is pretty good. The best locations are all at Hauptplatz, e.g. Bodega, Pup o'cino, Bellini (has a good view over Leoben).

What advice would you give future students heading to Leoben?

Make sure you can have a bike during your stay. (if you like riding a bike) The environment is really fascinating and you can experience it best, if you just take your bike and see where the road leads to...
