What is it like to live in Leeds? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Leeds is one of the famour student city in United Kingdom. There are two big universities, Leeds Metropolitan University and Leeds University. These two universities involved a lot in rugby matches and even to international parties. There are a lot of LeedsMet vs LeedsUni themed party. The city is small, you can pretty much walk everywhere. If it's too far or too cold you can always take the bus. There's also a cab service for student that you can always call. Relatively it's a small city and easy to get around with. We have harbour, we have ranches, we have big park too!
What is the student lifestyle like in Leeds?
Student lifestyle in Leeds is so much fun. There are many discounts available for student (even the big retailer too!). After study there are so much stuff to do. You can always chill in the city centre, experience some africans or chinese takeouts in leeds market, shop in the Queen's Arcade or simply hop on to the train and go to other town with the student card train tickets. Every two weeks there will be a student party with cheap booze and theme.
How much does it cost to live in Leeds?
Housing is depends. Usually if it comes from the uni, ranging around 70-120 pounds per week. If you're lucky enough to find housing by yourself that'd be so much cheaper.
transportation is cheap too, if you take the bus wherever you go. You can apply for the student bus card which is around 90 pounds for 3 months. For food it'll be so much cheaper if you cook yourself.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Leeds? Is there any advice you can give?
Go to unipol, it's easy. Or pop up in international student office, they usually give you advices on where to go.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food is like melting pot. you can find almost everything in Leeds. Iranian, Western, Indian even Thai food. My favourite will be fish and chips near the bus station in Leeds.
What places would you recommend visiting in Leeds?
Armour museum, the wharf, leedsmet Headingley Campus (super pretty)
Is it good to eat out in Leeds? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Thai restaurant (Thai A roy dee).
Haftsin Restaurant (near Opal 1 student housing)
The Wetherspoon (go for big english breakfast after a long night partying!)
Is the nightlife good in Leeds? Where is good to go?
yes yes yes! Go to white chillies, the cockpit, oceana, mint (go for their mint monday), and maluko.
What advice would you give future students heading to Leeds?
