Experience in Leeds, the United Kingdom by Leonie
How do you find living in Leeds? Do you recommend it? How is it?
I love my city of Leeds! The shops are really good, there are many museums and restaurants and it's very close to other tourist cities, such as York which is very good to visit.
How is student life in Leeds?
There is a large student population in Leeds because there are 4 universities in the centre and other colleges too, which means there are many nights especially for students.
How are living costs in Leeds?
Leeds is much cheaper than London, for example but if you want to live in the city centre, of course it's quite expensive as it is in all cities.
How is the country's food? What are your favourite dishes?
There is a lot of different food in England and there are millions of restaurant to try in Leeds. You should try 'fish and chips' if you come to the north of England!
Which places do you recommend to visit in Leeds?
Trinity Leeds and Victoria Quarter (to go shopping), the Royal Armouries (a museum on the army and the history of war), Leeds festival (the last weekend of August. It's very famous and many different bands play there), Leeds Art Gallery and Tiled Hall (a really good art gallery), Clarence dock (quite precious) and Leeds Market (a Victorian market).
And to eat in Leeds? Can you name your favourite places?
There are many restaurants. I like Friends of Ham, Gaucho, Sukhothai and Corner Cafe.
Which places do you recommend to go out to party in Leeds?
There are many bars but I would recommend the 'Call Lane' area to go out at night.
Any advice you want to give to future students in Leeds?
