What is it like to live in Lahti? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Lahti is the 7th biggest city in Finland with 120.000 people living here. It is small by its size (smaller than many municipalities surrounding it) so you will see everything here pretty quickly. Lahti has lots of sports possibilities since sports is a big thing here.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lahti?

LAMK currently has 2 campuses of which Mukkula campus is brand new (constructed in 2018).

How much does it cost to live in Lahti?

Pretty expensive compared to other European cities.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lahti? Is there any advice you can give?

There are apartments for students for sale so I wouldn't say it is too hard to find accommodation in Lahti.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Restaurants here are your typical fast food chains (Burger King, Subway, McDonalds etc.), kebab-pizzerias, ethnic restaurants (chinese, nepalese, italian etc.), steak restaurants and finer restaurants.

What places would you recommend visiting in Lahti?

Pikku-Vesku and Satama, especially at summer when all the terraces and restaurant vessels are open.

Is it good to eat out in Lahti? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

For good Italian food try Mamma Maria.

Is the nightlife good in Lahti? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is ok, there are a handful of nightclubs and many bars around. Wintti is probably the best currently.

What advice would you give future students heading to Lahti?
