Porto Venere is a town, that can be chosen if you want to see something diverse from Cinque Terre. It has beautiful views and an inspiring landscape for poets.
I was surprised by the perfect combination between Grotta Byron, and the sound of the flute heard nearby. In this cave, you can see the turmoil of the Ligurian Sea and feel the power of it. I love rocky beaches, as they offer you not only the lovely spot of shore but also spectacular scenery.
In Porto Venere, almost all restaurants are seafood specialized. We tried their menu "Turistico" from Taverna di Venere. For that price it was ok, but I recommend to take only one plate, and it will be better. For sure I didn't like their spaghetti with mussels included in the menu.
Near is a small island that has Parco Naturale Regionale di Porto Venere and Terrizzo, which belongs to Porto Venere.
