5 advantages of studying in Malaysia
I've been so wrapped up in writing about my Iran destinations and series that I felt like I wasn't giving Malaysia enough love and attention anymore, I don’t want it to feel left out. Anyways since this is my first blog post on this Malaysia blog, I have decided to write a list as to why I think Malaysia is a good place to live and study in. As someone who studied there for more than 6 years I think I got the full international student in Malaysia experience and here are 5 advantages and benefits of studying in Malaysia.
1) Multicultural environment
First things first, this is my number one reason because I believe in today’s world communication is the key. And yea you probably all know that anyways, but I assumed it's important to start with that. Now since communications is vital, getting to interact with other cultures makes communications so much more satisfying and intriguing.
You get to know about other religions, ethnicities and cultures and honestly nothing can beat that, and I'm really serious. Now back to Malaysia, in this country you can get to meet people not only from different countries but even different continents. Malaysia is one of the most multicultural countries I have ever been to. My friends and classmates came from all across the world and studied under the same roof. In my opinion, that was the most valuable merit of studying in Malaysia for my friends and I.

2) Relatively affordable
Well Malaysia’s currency is Ringgit, which is a relatively cheap currency in comparison to Dollar and Euro, which are used to in US and Europe respectively, each dollar is approximately about 4. 4 Ringgits and that is a really good exchange rate. Student life is Malaysia is also relatively cheap, I wouldn’t say too cheap, as I don’t think anywhere is too cheap anymore, but a student can live more comfortably than other places like even it's neighboring country Singapore. In my experience on Malaysia piece I wrote some approximate figures regarding the cost of living in Kuala Lumpur, I'm not really aware of the living costs in other student oriented cities in Malaysia but they are certainly cheaper than Kuala Lumpur. I would say with about 2000 Ringgits a month, which is less than 500 US dollars, a student can live quite comfortably in KL.
3) Reputable universities
Well the ranking of Malaysian universities don’t reach quite as high as universities in US or Canada and that is only natural, but Malaysia still has many reputable universities which provide a great educational experience. Well let’s take my case as an example, I studied in sunway university a university that actually strived for greatness, I absolutely loved the work of my teachers and the whole energy that they brought into the classroom. Sunway is one of the best Kuala Lumpur’s highest ranked colleges and now I'm going to mention a few other good ones.

The most famous university in all of Malaysia is University of Melaya or UM, making it to the world’s top 500, it is a rather large and impactful university in Malaysia. Among my favorites is the Petronas University in Ipoh which is famous for it's outstanding engineering program. Other notable universities are Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the international Islamic university of Malaysia. For more information check webpages such as Webometrics.info.
4) Food heaven
I've said this before I'll say it again, Malaysia has great food diversity, like oh my god, it will take you months to get through the local cuisines let alone the International cuisines. I'm surprised that wasn't my top reason to study in Malaysia, maybe I care about education after all. Now well food is quite affordable in Malaysia, compared to Iran, I would say it is a little bit more expensive in Malaysia, specially in the case of groceries and diary products, but overall it is still affordable for broke students like us. So nothing to worry about really. I honestly and truly suggest that you get in the habit of eating the local cuisines, because well first of all they are amazing and second of all way more cost efficient.
The local cuisines are also divided into different categories, there are the malaysian national dishes, such as Nasi lemak and Nasi goreng. Then we have local Indian and Chinese cuisines, I definitely suggest Tandoori chicken with garlic bread and Indoo mee noodles, the choices are endless I think i should actually write a whole piece on Malaysian cuisines.

5) The weather
Well now this point can be both considered an advantage and a disadvantage so I think it really depends on you and your preferences. Well for me it was considered an advantage, because well I love tropical weathers, I love that there is sunshine all year around, that it's hot and you don't have to layer up, I loved that I could go to the beach all year long. Oh also I loved Malaysia's rain man, the downpour that no umbrella could save you from, but the rain was so warm and good that I always loved walking under it so yes I think you guys get the picture.
Malaysia is pretty much the same all year round, it doesn't get cold and for those of you who hate the cold weather I think it's an advantage I'll explain how it's a disadvantage in the other blog post.
Hope this is informative enough and you guys enjoy it
Cheers
