Why did you choose to go to Konya, Turkey?

I found Konya interesting because of the conservative attitude of its people and different way of life. I wanted to try sth completely different

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I received scholarship for 5 months and it was 400 euro per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Konya?

Honestly there is no student life. If you want to go somewhere and party there, choose another place. There are no pubs, clubs. There is even problem with buying alcohol. However when you find turkish friends, home parties will happen very often:)

Would you recommend the city and the University of Konya to other students?

Yes. Totally. The city is very beautiful and different from the others. Very nice architecture, Mevlana Museum and performances of Dervishes.

What is the food like?

I was eating in the university canteen and the food was typical for this region. You will find a lot of restaurants there with turkish food. There is even Mc' Donalds In the city center. I strongly recommend national turkish dishes, because they do not know how to prepare pizza or spaghetti :)

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Konya?

I stayed in dormitory that was found thanks to my home university.

How much does it cost to live in Konya?

About 250 euro per month

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, each student from abroad had to participate in the 3hour weekly course of turkish language.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Konya from your city?

The easiest way to go there for me was to fly from Berlin to Istanbul and then to Konya.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Konya?

There is no night life there.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?
