What is it like to live in Kingston Upon Hull? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Hull is an interesting city which at the beginning you may feel incredibly out of your depth but by the end of your stay there, you won't want to leave. I have friends who came for a year, said frequently I want to go home and now that they are home, regret it constantly. I would recommend Hull because Party wise there is lots to do, there is shopping but with Leeds and York etc close-by it's not a problem to get there. There are always wacky events which people get up to, the students are great, for International Students especially because there are always events. It really is a great place, just give it a chance! :) I miss it already!

What is the student lifestyle like in Kingston Upon Hull?

I would recommend Hull because it has an infectious student area with things to do every night. The university is great with informal teachers (on the most part) which enjoy getting to know its students which can help a lot. There are always cheap events to go to at the university as well, it has a very relaxed lifestyle which you are bound to enjoy! With the almost 200 societies some dedicated to things such as Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, you are definitely going to find something for you!

How much does it cost to live in Kingston Upon Hull?

Hull is SO cheap! Everything from getting around town, to eating out is cheap! Obviously there are different price ranges if you're looking for a fancy restaurant it'll be more expensive but average, meal at a restaurant: £8 Take away (essential for any student) £4-5 Entrance into clubs: £3-4, weekly bus card £10 (you can go anywhere as man times as you want. It really is cheap!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kingston Upon Hull? Is there any advice you can give?

No it is so easy! There are private landlords as well as estate agents. My recommendations would be first to look at the Freshers pages because there are always advertisements on there of people looking for someone to move in, which is really handy because this can be a great way to meet people. We have loads of uni halls which are really good quality. Otherwise there are companies such as Longman Jones, Simply Students or Accommodation Warehouse, I wouldn't recommend unicom or Kexgrill because they don't take as good care of their properties.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Chip Spice!! Must have, you will never like chips normal again haha, or Chips and gravy.
Food is really good, Pie etc, real Yorkshire stuff!

What places would you recommend visiting in Kingston Upon Hull?

Deep, Museums- All Free and really cool, the marina, The old town, just explore, there's something everywhere. I really like it, so do others!

Is it good to eat out in Kingston Upon Hull? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is lovely, um... Pie, (Must Go) Fish and Chips there are amazing cause it is so fresh. Loads of places on Prince's Ave, it is all just restaurants and bars, really lively at night. Newland Avenue as well, new restaurants open up, all the time! Just check them out, they're great!

Is the nightlife good in Kingston Upon Hull? Where is good to go?

Welly, Asylum, Spiders, Sugar Mill, Adelphi, Roots, Thofts, Prince's Avenue, Old Town, there are lots of places, it just depends what you want, e.g. Cocktails, music, club, bars...etc.

What advice would you give future students heading to Kingston Upon Hull?

Just go with an open mind, experience everything before making a judgement. Join Societies, or hey make a new one, you have complete freedom! Enjoy yourself and don't miss it too much when you leave! If you can, get into a university hall, you'll have an amazing time!
