Have you ever considered going on holiday to exotic countries but the blistering heat and crazy temperatures seemed rather off - putting? Corfu will be a nice surprise. It has mild climate and berable temperatures thanks to the sea breeze. It really is the chilliest Greek island, where you can safely go out even at noon. It is also the most green piece of land, where the trees and flowers blossom even in the hottest summer months. It is actually called the green island.

I went to Corfu to visit Paleokastritsa, located in the west, and Corfu Town- the capital city located in the east. It was a real adventure and I will provide you with all information, descriptions of the best places to go, pro tips, ways to save money, ratings, and all you need to get the most out of your trip!

Corfu, known as Kerkyra in Greek, is a faraway island located near to Albania and surrounded by the Ionian Sea. According to Greek mythology, Poseidon, the God of the Sea, fell in love with Nymph Kerkira and brought her to the island. We read in Homer`s Odyssey, that Corfu was the island of Phaeacians, where Odysseus found shelter during his return voyage to Ithaca. His ship, known as Kolovri island, that has turned into stone, can be easily seen from Paleokastritsa shoreline.

Corfu is truly an earthly paradise, that will leave visitors with unforgettable memories and fill your lungs with excitement and wonder. You will be thrown off completely with its awe - inspiring nature, crystal clear waters, landscapes and high rocks protruding out of the sea. It is a place where the precious Greek climate has remained and is still alive with sounds of bozouki, friendly smiling people, motorbikes as the local way of transportation, fluffy cats and kittens strolling everywhere, little highland villages with 1000 years of history, no stress nor hurry and unique relaxed atmosphere. It is not a place where you will find hordes of people and it`s a perfect option if you want escape to the nature and discover true Greece. Fun fact: don`t be shocked when you hear noises on the street because Corfiot drivers say hello by beeping their horns.

The story will be continued in my next post :)
