Going to the university in France
When I left Belgium for my Erasmus, the things that scared me the most were going to college in France and taking classes in French.
In Belgium I have attended French classes since I was 10 years old so my French vocabulary and grammar were pretty rich. The only problem I had to face: french people speaking really fast! Really! And they cut words.
So after one hour in my French class I was like: "OMG! How am I gonna do this for 4 months?" Some professors didn't even use Power Points or books so I had to try to understand everything they said. Conclusion: mission impossible. At least, that's what I thought that first week.
But week after week my French started improving, I got used to their way of talking so I could understand way more after one month than I did in the first French class. I also have to thanks the French guys I hung out with. Really, the best way to learn a language is to go out with guys who speak the language.
After every class there was a final exam and surprisingly I passed all of them. The classes I took were about Management. My classmate were French so I think the level of teaching was not that hard (otherwise I would have failed for sure). But for me, the language made it much harder.
