Why did you choose to go to Jonkoping, Sweden?

All my friends told me that Sweden is a really good country for studying. And it is true. Sweden is a strong country with beautiful landscapes. The people there are awesome: very helpful, pleasant, socialising and most importantly everyone speaks English fluently.

What is the student lifestyle like in Jonkoping?

Crazy! I do recommend to live in a student place called Råslatt. There is a student house where students can go and play games like table football, table tennis and so on. Usually there are parties on Saturdays. All the students go there and have fun. It's a good opportunity to meet new people.

Moreover, there is a night club in the city center called Akademien. That's the same thing: all international students go there every Wednesday. The University's Swedish students also organise many trips abroad or just parties just to have fun. Those who want to go to Jonkoping will understand what crazy student life means!

The first week is called a "Kick-off week". All international students (5 in one group) are allotted in groups with other Swedish students. Each group has its name (like Pirates, The turtles, Cowboys and so on). Every day all groups meet on campus to do crazy things! So the student life in Jonkoping is super fun!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Jonkoping to other students?

Absolutely. First of all, concerning the university, you need to know that all the teachers are very nice. They are your friends, not your teachers. You can talk with them as with friends, you can call them by their first name. The programmes are also very interesting. Sometimes international students have classes with Swedish ones, and it is really super funny. The University of Jonkoping can offer you a good time. By the way, some of lectures are not very easy, so you might need to spend time to do your assignments. But all of them are very interesting.

The city is not very big but it is very nice. There are many good places to visit.

What is the food like?

As in other countries there are types of food that you can find and others that you don't. But the food quality is really good.

How much does it cost to find accommodation in Jonkoping?

If you are an Erasmus student it does not cost you anything. The University provides you with accommodation. There are four student places (I think so) available. I live in Raslatt and this flat is very good. There is already everything such as plates, cups, forks and so on. You don't need to buy anything.

It depends on whether you are a money-saver or not. But accommodation costs maximum 3000 krons, which is not expensive.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, it is easy. People from Asia say that it is really difficult but the language is not. Moreover, all Swedish speak English. So it is not a problem to communicate.

And yes, there are language courses available. You can choose to study just 1 or 2 courses.
