People and the environment here are awesome. You can meet a lot of friends coming from different places and cultures around the world. There are also many events to join.
What is the student lifestyle like in Joensuu?
It is an international city. There are a lot of parties and hanging around usually. There are a lot of events to join too.
How much does it cost to live in Joensuu?
Usually, living in Joensuu costs around 500 euros per month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Joensuu? Is there any advice you can give?
It is quite hard if you find the offer late, but there are different places to look for accommodation, such as Eli and SPKO company.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is great. They have Karelian pie, but I prefer other cakes like pulla. I also love salmon soup with potatoes and carrots.
What places would you recommend visiting in Joensuu?
I'd recommend visiting the beach, Utra and so on. You can look for more places to visit on the internet.
Is it good to eat out in Joensuu? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Kind of! Dolly, Nepal restaurant and Deli China are my favourite spots.
Is the nightlife good in Joensuu? Where is good to go?
Usually students go to the bar every weekend. Otherwise, you can stay at home, call friends to hang out with and cook your traditional foods to enjoy together.
What advice would you give future students heading to Joensuu?
Be prepared for the cold weather and the dark, make a lot of friends and enjoy the city!
