Experience in Istanbul University, Turkey, by Melis
Generally, what is Istanbul University like?
The older university in Istanbul (1453) is really historical and nice place. One of the most famous state universitiesi. It is in the historical heart of the city.
P. S. Except The Avcılar Campus.
What are the facilities like?
Generally, they are nice. But of course I depends on what faculty you choose. For example if you study communication, law, pharmacy, these faculties are in a great location. But the Veterinary Faculty is really far from the center, for example. Istanbul University is really famous and successful in Turkey, for medical sciences especially will be a nice choice. It really depens.
What are the tutors like?
Again it depends. But generally, they do not do too many things for you. It's supply-demand. If you labour, you have what you want, generally.
Are the lessons easy in Istanbul University?
I will equivocate I think, but it's about the faculty and your abilities. However I can not say directly yes at least.
Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?
There are some trips, parties if you like (I do not), conferences, etc. So It's nice.
Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?
No. "High quality" sounds too assertive.
Are there any stories you can share?
I am at the communication and because of the location of school, we are always in the heart of Istanbul and this is really marvelous feeling for me. So when you leave the school, in 5 minutes you can go to Hagia Sophia for example. The nature is nice around the university and I had good time and good moments generally about these.
