Generally, what is Istanbul University like?

It was established in 1453. It has a good reputation in Turkey as worldwide. The main buildings are very large, beautiful and really old. There are little gardens in between the facilities with benches to sit for students. It is really an international university: many students, and many teachers from various countries of the world. The meal is provided three times a day. It is very good and cheap. Istanbul University has one of the oldest and the biggest libraries of Turkey. You can find many kinds of books there. Even some rare books exist only in the Library of Istanbul University, throughout the entire country.

What are the facilities like?

The facilities are enormous, old and widespread across the city of Istanbul. There are two grand, main facilities: The facility of the Department of Law, and the Department of Literature and Natural sciences.

What are the tutors like?

The tutors are generally really accomplished people. Many of them are well-known professors. And some have their own written books on their own fields. If you want to study a language, for example, there are native speakers of that language in the Istanbul University working as teachers there.

Are the lessons easy in Istanbul University?

No. The education is challenging, and the teachers are sometimes very demanding. But it means it has a qualified education.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

Of course. The university organizes many activities from the local cultural ones, till the intercultural. Even the students themselves sometimes organize activities. Turkish wrestling and archery, cultural fairs, dance, short-movie, creative writing competitions, etc.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

Yes. The students of Turkish nation are proud to be a student of Istanbul University. But of course, the quality of teaching sometimes should depend on the personal character of the teacher. But the University is considered to have one of the best qualities of teaching in Turkey.
