The island of paradise: Formentor
This island, located south of Ibiza, takes my breath away beach each time I go there. I have been three times now, but each time is as good as the next. The hot weather is unbeatable, and for that reason you have to wear sun cream all over your body so that you don't burn and look like a tourist. Actually, the last time I was there in May 2015, my friend didn't listen to my advice about the sun-cream and didn't wear any sun cream. When we went back to the apartment in the evening, she realised that she had made a big mistake when she saw how red she was. Because we were on a trip to Ibiza with Erasmus, we had plans every night we were there. That night we were going to Eden, but she had sunstroke and felt really ill, that's why it is really important to protect yourself in the sun no matter what the temperatures.
The turquoise and transparent waters of Formentera do not leave you indifferent. It is like our eyes are reflecting in the sea, amazed by its beauty. In Ibiza, some beaches are really impressive, but the beaches on the neighbouring islet with the finest sand is incomparable. Formentera is around 45 minutes to an hour on boat from Ibiza and costs 45€ one way. Obviously it is a little expensive, but the view that you are graced with when you arrive is more than worth it. The restaurants there are equally expensive. When you get off the boat, you can rent motorbikes, cars and bikes that are just opposite the dock. When you leave Ibiza, you are offered a more expensive ticket on a quicker boat. When you're travelling on your own or with some friends it might be a good idea, but to do it with all the other Erasmus students is a bit stupid.
Actually, once you arrive, there is never enough of them to rent, the queue is really long and everyone is really impatient. It should be organised better. So we ended up getting a bike since we didn't know how to drive a scooter. Here's a story, a young girl from the Erasmus group fell off one when she stopped and had to pay 100 euros. Because of this, we thought it would be best to hire a bike, the old fashioned way, and we were doing some exercise at the same time. So we cycled as much as we could to the closest beach in the scorching heat. We laid out our towels, exhausted but happy to be there. We stayed there the whole afternoon before taking the same route back, along the beautiful salines.
