Experience in Hyderabad, India by praveena
What is it like to live in Hyderabad? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Hyderabad city is known for its rich history, food and its multi-lingual culture, both geographically and culturally. Hyderabadis are pretty friendly and of helping nature. It would be easy for anyone to adjust in the city.
What is the student lifestyle like in Hyderabad?
It is an education hub with top universities and institutes. College life particularly is a mix of study and fun. For college level education the city offers a range of courses in science, engineering, fashion designing etc. (But it is always better to do a background check on the college as there are number of private colleges).
How much does it cost to live in Hyderabad?
Cost of living depends on the area you live in. But on an average 20,000-30,000 INR is more than enough to have a quality lifestyle.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Hyderabad? Is there any advice you can give?
It is quite easy to find accommodation but again the price depends on the area. There are places where house rent is more to be afforded by a student and at some places the rent is affordable. But alongside there are low price student hostels available. Most of the areas in the city are well developed with easy access to shops, malls, bus stops etc. Only advice would be to look after the safety issues.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Hyderabadis are food lovers and therefore one can find number of restaurants and eateries everywhere in the city. Food is rich in flavours, especially the world famous Hyderabadi biryani. Hyderabad offers a diversity of cuisines from around the world.
What places would you recommend visiting in Hyderabad?
There are several sight seeing places. http://www.hyderabadtourism.in/places_visit.php This website would probably give the better idea of places to visit in Hyderabad.
Is it good to eat out in Hyderabad? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
It is good and also affordable to eat out in Hyderabad (But on daily basis obviously it would cost you a lot). My personal favourites are Bawarchi and Minerva. Look at the zomato hyderabad webpage to find out other options and prices.
Is the nightlife good in Hyderabad? Where is good to go?
There are several pubs most of which have to close by 11pm (on legal perspective) and communities also arrange for bonfires or indoor parties (that depends on your friend circle). But it is STRICTLY advisable to BE VERY CAUTIOUS with places and people, both during day and night.
What advice would you give future students heading to Hyderabad?
Students can get quality education here and will come to know several future opportunities in the college itself. It is a great place for study, job and for fun. But, as anywhere in the world, one has to take care of the people they interact with and their own safety while travelling and infact anywhere. Just be alert everytime.
