A little culture in all of this!
To La Rábida Friary!
Located about fifteen kilometers from the centre, the monastery is part of the top 10 ¿Qué hacer in Huelva?
In addition, we had the chance to enjoy the garden under a autumnal sun typical of the costa de la luz. ¡Que guay!
The entrance to the monastery is four euros and a nice little bonus, the audio guides are free. The comments are certainly a little long but for those who are impatient, and a little bilingual, everything is written in Spanish next to the works on the edges.
The monastery consists of several rooms with works on canvas or frescoes several meters long.
The visit continues in the heart of a patio where plants and flowers of all kinds abound.
Thus, works of art and nature mingle for the greater happiness of your pupils!
We then return to the so-called religious part of the monastery where these days, they celebrate mass every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
A multitude of details fill the walls of the little room dedicated to the Virgin, this whole place is admirable. The architecture of the doors through the vault above Christ is simply superb!
In the second part of the monastery, you can admire the patio lined with geraniums this time.
A real wonder! We also had to stop for a "small" photoshoot.
The rest of the visit focuses more on Cristóbal Colón trips, models of the three caravels are also visible near the flag room. An entire wall is also dedicated to the signature of the explorer, he's also almost as famous as him.
The passage through the corridor at the end of the visit is also equally pleasant, especially with a sun like this!
Also for those who want to, a small park is located not far from there (maybe ten minutes by car) where you can discover life-size reproductions of caravels!
In summary, it's a really beautiful place, that deserves to be seen even if you are not a follower of religion in general. The part dedicated to the discovery and the different trips of Cristóbal Colón has really prompted all of my curiosity. And then, go for the same price as a pair of chupitos you will come out with many more memories and beautiful pictures of this visit than an evening at the bar. ¡Jaja!
