How much does it cost to live in Hue?

Compared to other bigger cities in Vietnam such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the living cost in Hue is much cheaper. I estimate a monthly expense of 300eur would cover all of your needs, not only sufficiently but also pleasantly, including accommodations, foods, transportation, partying, if you are staying there in short period of time.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Hue? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not so difficult to find accommodation here. There are a variety of options: hotel, hostel, studio, apartment, or a house. With 150-200eur, you can afford a 2-room apartment. Room in a shared apartment or house is less popular as I am aware of.
The operation of an agency is not common in Hue, you have to search and deal directly with the owners. And we, the Hue people, are friendly and we appreciate nice people. We are willing to reduce the price for you if you show honesty and kindness.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

To be honest, the food in Hue is amazing, I think one of the best food cultures of Vietnam...
We are in favour of street foods from street vendors. A restaurant, whether it is fancy or not, is not an ideal place to explore our gastronomy.
The most well-known Hue dish is called Bún bò Huế (Hue-style beef noodle soup) which is a combination of rice noodle, beef, pork, and a balance of spicy, sour, salty, and umami flavors in the soup.
But for the HUe people, there are many others: cơm hến (mixed rice with baby clams and veggies), HUe- cakes in different forms and ingredients, dry noodle, soup noodle, fish noodle, crystal dumplings, bánh xèo,.... I think it would take you a week to try all of Hue dishes. Price is ranging from 0.5-1eur/dish. So cheap
