Holiday in Space

Published by flag-it Giulia Pia Carleton — 6 years ago

Many people may think that Texas is an odd destination for a trip: not everyone would think of it as a particularly safe sort of place where there is much to do if not go around shooting things. They couldn't be more wrong!

The perfect example that contradics this belief is the NASA space center, a really cool and different sort of place that is NOT only for the many space geeks out there. It's a really amazing and fun place! The staff is really kind and always happy to explain the contents of the museum. Including many stories from the many Astronauts that have worked there (my personal favourites where the ones about Neil Armstrong and, of course, of Samanta Cristoforetti, the first italian woman to go up to the International Space Station).

Once you leave there you will get a new view and understanding of how things work in the "space world": abut the machinery used in the missions, the astronauts, their lives on the Space Station and their difficulties, the rules to follow by the people on Earth and in space, the various agreements with other countries and the future plans and projects that they have... well at least the ones they're allowed to tell you about :P.

It was a really interesting and eye-opening experience that I would happily repeat. It is also a really good place to take your children to: they'll see really cool space-stuff (for example the astronaut's toilets, space food, space ships, bedrooms in space or the astroonaut's gym to keep them constatly fit) all to nurture their curiosity and to do something different to the usual family-outing.
