I will go to Helsinki from august to february too.I will study at Faculty arts too my department is history.COuld you solve housing problem?

i found out it is not so easy!! i heard that HOAS should guarantee an accomodation, but it's usually full. i think i will do anyway the appication request at HOAS, but i'm pretty sure i will have to find a house..

Hi guys!
I'm Steven, I come from Italy. I will be in Helsinki next scholastic year, start from late august. I'll study at the Aalto University (5 km west of Helsinki), computer science. I made application at HOAS also...I think that they will provide for us, last year I stayed in Copenhagen for 6 months and there was a similar service; they took care of my accomodation....I can say that scandinavian organization is really great! I hope that they will not betray me :D

Hi all!
My name is Niel and I'm from Belgium. Next year (september - december) I will be studying computer science at the Aalto University. Steven, which courses do you plan to take?
I also filled in an application with HOAS. They have a nice accomodation available very close to the school of science. I am still hoping for this place, but the administration at Aalto university told me it is best to look at the private market also.
I am looking forward to erasmus :) Keep in touch!!!

Hi Niel!
I will follow MSc SDE (MSc Service Design and Engineering). it's also very particular master. I'm not really there for Erasmus but for a special double degree programme, EIT ICT Labs Master School. But I guees that I will follow the same couses of other students that are enrolled for the normal SDE. Maybe I will have to take some extra courses...
For the accommodation is a lottery like every time...
By the way, public transport there seems really efficient, so in a range of 10 km probably everything could be fine. I hope also to find something close to the UNI or to the City Center... :D

Hi all!
Yesterday I suddenly received emails from people offering accomodation in Helsinki. After some mailing and some research it turned out they were fake and try to get a payment in advance. This way I wanted to warn you all, be carefull!

Hi guys!
I received an offer from HOAS. I'm not so satisfied, but I have to confirm before the 25th of June. The apartment has 3 rooms a shared kitchen "and a walk in bathroom" (...I can't understand if it's outside of the house O.o)....The accommodation is 8 km far from my UNI; rent 391 euro per month. The worst thing is that they have written on the agreement that " Period 1st of august '12--> 30th june '13. The agreement cannot be terminated". I guess that it means that if you want leave that place, you have to pay anyway all the period....This sucks!
So I don't know what to do...
I also received an offer (I don't know if it's a fake) from a spanish girl Monica P. Minguet. However the e-mail address (dpangnarind08) is owned by Daniel Pangnarind at least in Google opinion :P ...there some information on this forum about him, Niel do you already knew this guy?
