Why did you choose to go to Heidelberg, Germany?
I wanted to improve my German and Heidelberg looked like the perfect town, not so big but with young population (due to the great university).
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
Only 5 months... I received from my Uni 200 euros per month + 500 euros at my return.
What is the student lifestyle like in Heidelberg?
There are a lot of little pubs in the city centre and each faculty often organizes parties.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Heidelberg to other students?
Totally, yes. The university is great, professors are skilled and the atmosphere is good. The city is wonderful, you will fall in love with it!
What is the food like?
Very good! I love schnitzel!
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Heidelberg?
No, I applied to HD university to have a room in a hall of residence and I got it!
How much does it cost to live in Heidelberg?
Less then in Italy... Heidelberg is not an expensive city.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
You can easily speak English, everyone knows it. But German is important to know: there are many language courses available where you meet a lot of foreign students.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Heidelberg from your city?
I traveled by plane from Pescara to Frankfurt Hahn. Then I took the bus from the Airport to Heidelberg. I didn't spend much money on the flights (generally 10-20 euros) and the bus costs 20 euros.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Heidelberg?
Unterestraße! Or in Ziegler club.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Heidelberg?
There are very many restaurants in the towncentre. I can't remember their names... But for students there are 3 canteens, one has also a cafeteria where you can stay in the afternoons studying or chatting with friends.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
The castle is a must-see. Then, the Philosophenweg, the river Neckar with the Alte Brücke and the citycentre.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Heidelberg in the future?
Live every little moment, you are there discovering and enjoying all the things around you... You are going to lose your heart in Heidelberg...
