What is it like to live in Hasselt? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
The city has a lot of shops and bars. On summer days it can be very crowded. And in the winter they make a christmaspark called 'Winterland'. During the year there a lot of things to do. You can also visit many things nearby, the public transport works very well here, so you can visit easily other cities.
What is the student lifestyle like in Hasselt?
Hasselt isn't the biggest city. But the student lifestyle is good. There is a lot to offer. But if you like more the quietness, you can find that as well. So you can actually choose how your student life would be.
How much does it cost to live in Hasselt?
It depends what kind of accommodation you want and how many times you are going out in the evening. I can't say an exact price.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Hasselt? Is there any advice you can give?
I don't think it's difficult. There are many accommodation near the schools. In fact there was built this year a new flat for students.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is very good, you have many choices here. I like to eat burgers. There is a good place in Hasselt, called Botanique. The hamburgers are very big so if you have a big appetite I would recommended you this place.
What places would you recommend visiting in Hasselt?
I would defienetly recommend to vist the Jenever Museum and the Japanese Garden, and to have a drink in the sky bar with very nice views.
Is it good to eat out in Hasselt? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
In fact in Hasselt there are a lot of Italian restaurants, so if you like Italian food you would love this. Of course, there also many other restaurants nearby.
Is the nightlife good in Hasselt? Where is good to go?
I would recommend to go to the Versuz. It's the biggest club in Hasselt. If you don't like that, there are a few bars where you can party as well.
The students parties are in Diepenbeek, it's only 10 minutes away from Hasselt by bike.
What advice would you give future students heading to Hasselt?
Enjoy your time as much as possible! Visit many things and meet the local people, who will take you to the cosy bars.
