Erasmus Experience in Haderslev, Denmark by Ricardo
Why did you choose to go to Haderslev, Denmark?
Because i wanted to learn more about their educational system (i study Education)
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
In this case i received money from my portuguese university. 1000euros for 5months.
What is the student lifestyle like in Haderslev?
In the university u have the "Fridays Cafe", its a students bar open on friday and saturday. Prices are low and its very nice to be there. Normally the city at night is full of people in bars, but take note: most of parties are done at house because of the high costs of drinks.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Haderslev to other students?
If ur willing to live in a different place than urs, everything different, than yes.
What is the food like?
U have all types..Typical, fast food..u name it. There is some fast food ones really good in center :D
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Haderslev?
The university found my accomodation, i had to pay for rent.
How much does it cost to live in Haderslev?
I would say near 600euros month (with house renting) if u dont abuse on everyday party and enjoy some dinner-parties with ur erasmus friends or danish friends ;)
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?
Completely easy. All danish speak english so no worries ;) There is a danish course u can take but people see u as a foreigner so they will automaticly talk english.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Haderslev from your city?
Place + train + bus. Haderslev doesnt have a train connection and the last bus is quite soon..
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Haderslev?
Well, it was long time ago, but if its still the same it will be: Fridays Cafe (university), Ras, Andys, Tribunen (some live concerts) and Crazy Daisy.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Haderslev?
I dont remember names (Sorry!) but u have one italian one (Firenze?) good in front of Ras, u have a fast food one at Ved Stormklokken, cheap and open till late..
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
U have some good museums there. Also, u can take the bus to Billund and go to the Lego factory and amusement park. Copenhagen, Arhus, Odense are also good places. Also, if ur interested, rent a car in Kolding and go to Hamburg or even Berlin (the price will be cheaper than train, bus or whatever)
Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Haderslev?
Just enjoy the maximum u can, people are awesome :D
