What is it like to live in Guatemala? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
There is always something going on in the city of Guatemala. Sometimes you can get a little stressed out from the traffic in the city at rush hours.
What is the student lifestyle like in Guatemala?
The student life is amazing in Guatemala, apart from the great universities, the students always create friends groups to study together and/or party.
How much does it cost to live in Guatemala?
It depends on which part of the city ( or the suburbs) you live in. But you should be able to find everything you want on the supermarkets or markets for a great price.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Guatemala? Is there any advice you can give?
It’s not that difficult to find a place to live in Guatemala City, but I will recommend to work with a real state company to find the best place at the best price.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
In this city you will be able to it food from all around the world. There are restaurants for almost every culture such as, Guatemalan, Peruvian, Brazilian, USA, Japan, India, China, Argentina, German, Spanish, Italian and many more.
What places would you recommend visiting in Guatemala?
Obviously the city is a beautiful place. You should visit zone 1, 10, 14, 15,16. Also you have to visit Antigua Guatemala and Atitlan lake. If you have enough time you can also visit the beach in Puerto Barrios, the Mayan piramids in peten and Izabal or go to the pacaya volcano (you can it pizza made with the heat from the volcano).
Is it good to eat out in Guatemala? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
My favorite places to eat in Guatemala are: Naru, Nikkei, Los tres tiempos, 7caldos, Everest and Jakes(for something fancy).
Is the nightlife good in Guatemala? Where is good to go?
If you like to party, will recommend to go to zone 10. It called the “living zone” for a reason. There are a lot of clubs there. The best club in GT is “plus”. If you have friends in GT, you can also ask them for parties. There is always a party every weekend in Guatemala.
What advice would you give future students heading to Guatemala?
Be prepared to study a lot. Some of the clases are very difficult because they require your whole attention and a good attitude. Almost all the clases are in Spanish, so think about that.
