Why did you choose to go to Graz, Austria?

Because everyone goes to Germany, but Austria has a lot to offer. It exceeded my expectations in almost every aspect.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

As I was here for an Erasmus internship, the UV pays you for 4 months and they give you 70% of your grant: €1, 300.

What is the student lifestyle like in Graz?

It's incredible. There's something to do every day; be it going to events or going out partying. Graz is a young city.

Would you recommend the city and the university of Graz to other students?

So far, yes. It's a fantastic city which you'll never get bored of and that welcomes a lot of Erasmus students. Regarding Spanish people, there are more than 60 of us here. Plus all of the students coming from other countries...

What is the food like there?

It's nothing out of the ordinary. The best national dish is Schnitzel, but really it's just like a typical Spanish escalope. Although the Sacher cake is amazing.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Graz?

No, I found my accommodation through a website: wg-gesucht.de. I talked to a few different people and I went with a Russian girl's room in the end. However, there's a Facebook page called "WG & Wohnung Graz gesucht", where there are adverts for people offering up their houses for accommodation every day. It's pretty much impossible not to find accommodation here.

How much does it cost to live in Graz?

It depends on whether you live in a residence or in an apartment... Not including accommodation, I'd say that you'll send an average of €400 a month (including a trip to another country).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the university?

Yes, I went on a month long intensive course offered by the university. I signed up to the academy and I attended German classes for Incoming students even though I wasn't enrolled.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Graz from your home city?

I'd say going to Vienna and getting a bus from there with the company Flixbus. However, I went directly from Valencia with Lufthansa. It was more expensive, but as I had two suitcases and not knowing the country, I think that I made the right choice.

Do you have any advice for students coming to Graz in the future?

You should come here without a doubt. You probably don't know much about the city but once you discover it, you'll fall in love. And, in addition, you are in the centre of Europe. The best part is being able to travel to other countries.
