Why did you choose to go to Graz, Austria?

Because in the first place I was interested in learning the German language. I read something about the city and I was surprised to find out that it is the second largest city in Austria and that it has so much students from all around the world and I'm usually interested in different cultures.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The scholarship was 5 months and I received a total of 2000 euros to help me with the living cost.

What is the student lifestyle like in Graz?

The student life is great in Graz. There are lots of events organized specially for students, dorm parties and Austria is the one which has more holidays in Europe.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Graz to other students?

I actually recommend it every time I got the chance.

What is the food like?

The food is good. There are lots of Kebab fast-foods, lots of restaurants, there is apple juice everywhere, good cheep beer produced in Graz (Puntigamer), pizza is good. I usually cooked for myself and you can find almost anything you want. The vegetables are more expensive than in Romania but there are deals in store very often.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Graz?

It didn't cost to find it, but the price for warranty was pretty high (700 euro) - money you get back when you leave.

How much does it cost to live in Graz?

450 euro / month is enough if you cook at home.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There are language courses available in the Uni. The language is hard but it's easier when you already know English.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Graz from your city?

From my city the best way to get to Graz is by car. But there is an airport in Graz that has also cheap flights to some important cities.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Graz?

I forgot the names.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Graz?

I was going for pizza at Gramophone and I ate some very good (and cheap) Chinese food at Konfuzius.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are many sites, but the best you can visit is Schloss Eggenberg.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Graz in the future?

Visit Kunsthaus only if you don't have anything else to do with your money. If you are planning to visit other cities buy yourself a train ticket online few dais earlier - if you do it you can go to Vienna with only 9 euros. Don't spend over 70 euros on a bike, search more, you will find a good cheap one eventually.
