Almuñécar,Granada's beach

I strongly recommend a visit to this town, it's only 50min. away South from Granada right on the beach. It has a mild micro climate that never goes under +10ºC while you are freezing in Granada, and it's quite cool during the summer in case you want to escape from the melting days previous to your exams in June.

You can schedule many things here, they have several sport schools such as diving, sailing, horse riding, paragliding, rafting etc. you can also find marvellous spots to climb and practise hiking.

If you prefer just lying on the beach, the closest as you step off the bus is Playa Puerta del Mar, very clean and has a beautiful view of the castle and the bay. If you are looking for a sandy beach, you'd better go to "Calabajío" or "Cotobro", there are also several nude beaches such as "Cantarriján" or "El Muerto" but they aren't that easy to find. Don't forget your sun screen or you'll end up as a salmonete by the end of the day...

If you like sightseeing you can find 3, 500 years of history all around this city, egyptian vase, roman aqueduct, phoenician factory, arab monuments and lovely palm trees on every single corner.

Check this blog for further info: Sightseeing Almuneca and don't forget to try some local experiences like eating sardines at "Piliki's bar", trying a rosca at "Plaza de Kelibia" or fresh fried fish at "Los Pajaritos tavern", every single fruit store should have local grown mango, chirimoya, nispola, figs, avocado or litchees depending on the season, and last but not least I'd recommend a visit to "La Italiana Café" where you can taste tropical fruit ice cream or a quick snack before going back to Granada.
